Concrete recycling-Where to go with the oversize grain?

Our SGC-Sand and Grit Crusher offers the solution!

We are repeatedly asked whether we can offer a solution for the quantities of oversize grain >16mm that occur during concrete recycling and can no longer be economically reduced to the target grain size.

When crushing these grain sizes 16-32mm; 16-45mm; 16-63mm, the (impact) technology used only produces more filler and sand, which is already present in excess.

Our answer: Gentle crushing with our SGC (Sand and Grit Crusher), a double-roll crusher that has been specially developed for the production of smaller grain sizes with a low sand and fines content.

In this way, stockpiles of surplus aggregate can be economically converted into high-quality grit without increasing the sand content excessively. The SGC can also be placed directly under the oversize grain belt of the (mobile) impact crusher.

We recently simulated this application. 16-45mm as oversize grain from an impact-crushed paving block concrete was crushed to 0-16/22mm in a single pass. And this was done gently.

The result: 12.5% sand(0-2mm), the rest high-quality grit with a maximum grain size of 22mm. The grain shape is also impressive.

Even the 0-2mm sand fraction is characterised by a coarse grain distribution, unlike what we are used to in RC crushed sand.

This is why the SGC also stands for ‘coarse-grained crushing down to the smallest fractions’.
