Due to the shortage of sand, there is a bottleneck in the supply in the construction industry. Sand is usually extracted from natural deposits. In sand production, gravel or rock that occurs in larger grain sizes is broken down to usable grain sizes.

The aim is therefore to produce sand from gravel or broken rock from quarries that has properties similar to or equal to natural sand.

The advantage of sand extraction through a crushing process compared to natural extraction in the deposit is that the sand produced through a crushing process has more fracture edges and therefore better static properties. The crushing process with the roller crushers from Crush + Size Technology is a very gentle and energy-efficient process. As a result, the proportion of unusable fine grains in sand production is far below that of other processes. The roller crusher produces sand and grit with good grain shape in different fractions and makes a valuable contribution to the protection of natural resources.

OVERVIEW OF THE CRITERIA IN DECREASING PRIORITY

The grain surface should be as rough as possible, so that a viable matrix can be formed by the grains.

Within the overall grain distribution, the coarse grain fraction should be larger. This increases the load-bearing capacity of the concretes and reduces the need for glue or cement.

Ideally, the proportion of the grain range 0 – 0.25 mm should be as small as possible.
