Hammer mills - classic and proven
Hammer mills are used in many industrial areas for primary and secondary crushing of different types of materials.
Hard and brown coal in coal processing and in power plants, coking coal for the iron and steel industry, limestone and gypsum rock or other soft to medium-hard minerals as well as various types of salt and fertilizers.
The feed material is entering the machine through the vertical fall into the impact circle of the rapidly rotating hammer heads. A high crushing performance is achieved by the first impact. In the next step, the pre-crushed granulate is thrown against the upper baffle plate where it is crushed once more. From here it goes back to the hammer heads and is being hit against the grinding bars in the third step. Due to the elevation and deepening on the tapered gap of the grinding wall, the grains are repeatedly brought into the impact circle of the rotor and crushed countless times until the grains leave the crushing chamber below the machine.
The desired grain size of the end product can be influenced by the peripheral speed of the rotor and the distance between the grinding walls and the hammer circle.
The direction of rotation of the rotor is reversible. This means that the hammer heads that are worn on one side can remain in operation. This extends the maintenance intervals and reduces downtimes due to maintenance work.
To reduce oversize grain, the grinding wall can be provided with grinding bars in the lower area. Additionally the machine can be equipped with an exchangeable grate at the outlet.
The precisely balanced configuration of the opposing hammer arms and hammer heads ensures vibration-free running of the entire hammer mill. The rotor consists of the rotor shaft, the rotor disks, the hammer arms and the hammer heads.
The hammers are loosely suspended between the discs by means of screw connections with the shaft. The hammer arms are made of high quality steel and are easy to service. The hammer heads are wear parts made of material designed for the application and can be easily replaced.
The grinding walls can be mechanically or hydraulically adjustable to compensate for wear and to achieve the desired product size.
The built-in inspection covers and the hinged housing allow easy maintenance.
